Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR)

Cathy Francis’ career in Human Resources Management has been guided by her uncompromising quest to provide her employers and clients with open minded leadership and flexibility while providing simple effective solutions to human resources and management issues. She credits her success to her ability to think strategically and to translate strategic plans into tactical actions that lead to business success.

After earning her Bachelors Degree in Personnel Management (magna cum laude) from National University, she went on to earn a Masters Degree in Human Resources Development from the University of Redlands. In her never ending search for knowledge, she then earned a professional accreditation as a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) from the Personnel Accreditation Institute.

Cathy’s working career includes leadership roles in a variety of industries from 50 to 10,000 employees, from start ups to Fortune 500, bio-tech to hi-tech, healthcare to services, retail to hospitality with multi-site and international offices. While Human Resources has been the common thread of her responsibilities, she prides herself on being an overall business leader as evidenced by additional assignments helping to implement a TQM/CPI program, full responsibility for company facilities and key participant in the development of long term strategic plans.

She has managed all startup Human Resources, Administrative Services, and Facilities functions for all company locations (including international offices). She had responsibility for 8,000 employees in 190+ locations across 32 states. Here she established company-wide Human Resources standards across all locations while successfully identifying and addressing cross-location employee relations issues (reduced Employee Relations actions by 25%). At another company, she had 10,000 employees in 550 sites across all 50 states and internationally. She is quite accustomed to frequent travel. Most recently, Cathy was responsible for more than 100% growth through a series of acquisitions taking a firm to over 1,000 employees in one year, both domestic and internationally.

Whether it be a start up (she’s assisted 4 so far, including taking one through IPO) or a Fortune 500 with several thousand employees across multiple sites, she takes her broad breath of global business experience with her to assist executive teams and employees alike in achieving their goals.

Cathy began consulting approximately 6 years ago and enjoys assisting individuals with career coaching and gives of her personal time and service to several non-profit organizations throughout the San Diego area.
