Howard is President & CEO of Global Life Sciences (GLS), Inc., a provider of IT solutions and professional services to the globallife and health sciences industries.
Howard began his career in life sciences in 1969 with Pfizer. He continued his marketing, sales and product development work with Baxter and Bayer until 1979. Late in 1979 he founded Advanced Bioresearch Associates (ABA) which grew to be the premier Life Sciences ~ FDA Regulatory Affairs consulting firm for Life Science company clients, worldwide. ABA strategically focused to make business sense of developing medical products in a heavily regulated environment. Howard served as President, CEO and Chairman of ABA for 20 years, securing regulatory approval for hundreds of medical products, including drugs, biotherapeutics, medical devices and in-vitro diagnostics.
With a vision of alleviating some of the life science industry's pain, through IT innovation, by reducing the time and cost within the highly regulated life science industry. Howard founded BioQ Inc. in 1999. Howard served as President, CEO of this software company dedicated to creating a significantly innovative smart automated system to expedite the medical product development process and developed significant IT intellectual property focused on managing unstructured data in any language.
Howard in 2001 joined Sun Microsystems, Inc, as its Group Director of Global Life and Health Sciences. While at Sun, Howard founded the LSIT Global Institute (http://www.LSIT.org). The LSIT Global Institute is chartered, as a non-profit, with one purpose: To develop an independent source of trusted IT guidance and references to the life and health sciences global community.
Howard firmly believes, if we, the public and governments, can completely trust Information Technology utilized within the life and health sciences global community, it will enable rapid improvement of global public health.
Howard utilizes his 25 years as successful CEO by participating on many Boards over the years, including; BIOCOM, Quorex Pharmaceuticals, Stryker Corp., Howmedica, Osteonics, Sidney Kimmel Cancer Center, PharmaPrint, and many others. Howard also teaches at UCSD School of Pharmacy. Howard remains active in the industry as a keynote speaker, panel moderator, focused on the IT convergence into the heavily regulated Life Sciences Industry, Computational Predictive Modeling and Personalized Medicine. In 1996 he led the formation and played a significant role in designing the worlds first Master in Regulatory Affairs (MRA) degree program with the US-FDA and California State University, which was the first to offer an accredited curriculum on this very complicated subject.
