Jay Kunin

Jay S. Kunin is a consultant in Information Technology, focused primarily in strategy, architecture, management and regulatory compliance for life science and health-care enterprises. He serves as interim CTO or CIO for growing companies; assists clients in technology analysis, due diligence and strategic planning; and works with FDA- and HIPAA-regulated organizations on security, validation and other I.T. compliance issues. He has over 30 years experience in systems architecture, I.T. management, software development and internetworking technologies, and has had an e-mail address since 1976. Clients have included large pharma companies, large and small biotechs and device manufacturers, as well as CROs, software vendors, and venture capital firms.

Mr. Kunin's experience includes co-founding and serving as President of RxSys International, Inc., a developer of electronic medication reminder products for clinical trials consumer and applications, which he led through an IPO. He was also Director of Information Technology and Process Design for Teknekron Pharmaceutical Systems, a systems integration firm in clinical and regulatory systems. He later served as Director of I.T. for Scios, Inc., a public biopharmaceutical company, now owned by J&J.

In the software industry, he was a Principal of Securities Industry Software Corp., serving as VP Technology and, later, VP International when Citicorp acquired the company. He was VP of Development at International Risk Control, Inc., responsible for its financial derivatives analysis software, and later was VP of Engineering at GolfWeb, a pioneering venture-funded commercial Web publisher and e-commerce company, which was acquired by CBS SportsLine. Early in his career, Mr. Kunin was a practice manager and senior consultant in I.T. Strategy with Hammer & Company, Inc., which developed the original business process reengineering concepts. Clients included banking, insurance, securities, manufacturing, health-care and technology companies in the US, Europe and Latin America.
