Michael Elliott

Founder, CEO and Chief Analyst, Atrium Research & Consulting.

Mr. Elliott founded Atrium in 2003 to provide best-in-class educational material for informed decision-making in scientific informatics. Known for its in-depth analysis and coverage, Atrium Research is the recognized leader in its field.

Mr. Elliott's technology career began as a chemist at Indiana University Medical Center, where he developed new analytical methodologies to support psychiatric research programs. In 1983, he joined Perkin-Elmer Corporation (now ABI), as a laboratory information and automation technical consultant. Known for his operational skills, his career progressed into positions that included software sales, IT project manager, director of US operations, vice president of worldwide instrument marketing and product management, and VP and general manager of the pharmaceutical and food analysis division.

Later, he joined Scientific Software, Inc. (SSI, now part of Agilent Technologies), as SVP responsible for worldwide sales, marketing, product management, consulting and support. He launched the company's global expansion and roll-out its entry into the scientific enterprise content management market. Within 18 months, CyberLAB(now OpenLAB ECM) became the global standard at 6 of the top 10 pharmaceutical companies.

He has been quoted for his expertise in publications such as Business Week, CIO, BioIT World, Pharmaceutical Technology, Drug Discovery and Development, Drug Discovery News, Scientific Computing, Analytical Chemistry, LC GC, IT World, Pharmaceutical Manufacturing, Today's Chemist at Work, G.I.T., and Chemical and Engineering News. He is a member of the editorial board of Scientific Computing and on the technology advisory board of the Life Science Information Technology Global Institute. Mr. Elliott has presented at conferences, events, and seminars in over 20 countries, and has written multiple publications on laboratory informatics. He also advises over a dozen Wall Street investment firms on the dynamics of the life sciences and analytical instrumentation markets.
