Volunteer of the Year 2009
Kimberly Green
Gators and Gardening, Volunteer Extraordinaire

Kim Green had just begun working at Carlsbad-based Salient Networks, when her CEO, Mac Clarke, asked her to attend an LSIT meeting with him. Mac and LSIT CEO Anette Asher had been friends for years, and they felt that the LSIT experience would be good for Kim. After all, she and her husband had recently relocated to San Diego from Florida. Involvement with LSIT would give her a deeper understanding of the interaction between life sciences companies and the pivotal role vendors can play.

“After the first meeting, I was hooked,” Kim said with a grin. “LSIT fits a lot of my interests in the healthcare industry, and I was intrigued by the lack of guidance in a highly regulated field.”

As an LSIT volunteer, Kim leads the V&V Chapter Team 2 that is responsible for the V&V Lifecycle and Principles content. With the kick-off of Team 2 last winter, the team developed Alpha content for 10 stages of the V&V lifecycle, Beta content for the V&V lifecycle (the overview) and Principles. Team 2 submitted the Alpha content for review in June, essentially turning around a great deal of content in only three months! “This was a huge undertaking, and we were very successful,” says Kim.

She is also a volunteer of the GO team, assisting with on-boarding practices to make the experience better and more rewarding for the LSIT volunteers.

“I absolutely love the relationships that develop from LSIT,” she explains. “My experience with LSIT has really helped me feel more a part of the community. The group that I interact with is fantastic! We love to laugh, and we truly enjoy each other’s company.”

A sport enthusiast, Kim is a self-proclaimed “huge Gators fan, and it is my duty to be obnoxious about anything regarding college sports and my Florida Gators.”

In her spare time, she also enjoys gardening, cooking and decorating her home.

Thank you, Kim, for your extraordinary service to LSIT!
